About the Project
The Hawai‘i Portrait Project is a visual storytelling initiative celebrating the people of Hawai‘i. Inspired by my past work photographing Pascua Yaqui Tribal Elders, this project focuses on capturing expressive black-and-white portraits that honor the unique identities and cultural backgrounds that make up our Islands.
Through this project, I offer free professional portrait sessions at participating locations across O‘ahu. Each participant will will be the subject of a beautifully lit, high-quality portrait in a classic black-and-white style. There is no obligation to purchase and no sales pitch, but portraits will be available for order through a private online gallery. Participants will be asked to sign a standard model release.
By participating, individuals contribute to a growing collection of images that reflect the beauty and diversity of our community. Select portraits may be included in a future gallery exhibition or published as part of a larger photographic work.
How to Participate
Sign up: Sessions are available at participating locations—check our schedule and reserve your spot.
Attend your session: Portraits are created in a relaxed and comfortable setting, with appointments lasting approximately 20 minutes.
View & purchase: A private online gallery will be available for ordering prints if you so choose.
This project is both a celebration of community and an artistic endeavor, and I look forward to capturing and sharing these powerful portraits with the people of Hawai‘i.
